I had the incredible opportunity to represent Oregon at the Meta Boost Leaders Network gathering in Washington, D.C., for their Small Business Advocacy Fly-In. 

Shannon Lee Strategy (and now DASH) has been part of the Meta Boost Leader’s network since 2021. The Meta Boost Leaders Network is a community that helps small to medium business leaders amplify their. successes, connect with Meta and each other, and build a better future for businesses.

Alongside over 100 leaders from across the United States, I was humbled to convey my insights with lawmakers and decision-makers in our nation’s Capital.

Over 48 hours, I was honored to be in the company of truly remarkable individuals. As we assembled, we shared our stories, challenges, and victories. 

We gathered on the final evening and watched the documentary about our colleague Tom Mulholland, owner of a small-town grocery store in Malvern, Iowa. From Academy Award-winning director Rayka Zehtabchi in association with Meta, “They Came From All Over” highlights small businesses’ important role within their local communities. In the film, Tom confronts the possibility of losing his family business and the impact it can have on his small Iowa town.  

 Sidenote: Tom used to be my butcher at the local grocery store in Omaha, Nebraska in the early 2000s.

 If you have 15 minutes, the documentary is a must watch for any small business owner. 

It was a true privilege to be a part of this group of leaders, and I look forward to continuing to collaborate and make meaningful progress with my fellow participants in the months and years to come.
